HUNGER NO LONGER!

On Saturday, October 27th, the Boston Faith and Justice Network, Gordon College, the Greater Lynn Council of Churches, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church are co-sponsoring an event called Hunger No Longer. Hunger No Longer is a half-day conference centering on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and presenting Christian responses to poverty.

The Millennium Development Goals are eight attainable objectives that will significantly decrease the poverty level worldwide. The eight goals are:

  • to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
  • to achieve universal primary education
  • to promote gender equality and empower women
  • to reduce child mortality
  • to improve maternal health
  • to combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
  • to ensure environment sustainability
  • to develop global partnerships

One task necessary to reach these goals is to encourage affluent countries in the world to give a greater percentage of their budgets towards the alleviation of poverty. Another important task is to increase awareness of global poverty as well as involvement in solutions.Registration for this event is free and the dinner will cost $5.00 cost per person. Childcare will be provided during the workshops and worship service.
