Ward 3 Neighborhood Association

I wasn't at the meeting, but it sounds like it was productive.

I am (was) a member of the Ward 3 Neighborhood Association which started last year, but seems to have withered on the vine. We had plans to start a neighborhood crime watch, clean up grafitti, and hold some events. We hosted a Halloween party last year for the Ward at the old fire station on Eastern Ave., but I haven't heard anything from anyone since Christmas. We had a newsletter and held some meetings where I got to know my neighbors. Darren Cyr, Ward 3 councilor helped us start it up.

One very effective thing we did was to gather a large group together and walk up and down the streets of our neighborhood introducing ourselves and showing our presence. We had approximately 5 of these walks. I didn't go on all of them, but on the one I did attend, the chief of police accompanied us as did the anti-gang unit.

I hope your initiative lasts and you are successful in beautifying Lynn. I can't help but think that a return of the Ward 3 Neighborhood Association would be a positive development. Perhaps I will contact some of the old members. One thing we did not do effectively was promote communication among the various members by compiling a membership list with phone numbers and email addresses.

Neighborhood Assoc.

Tom,
Whether you in the Highlands,Diamond District, Gold Fish Pond, or any other wards in Lynn, I think we all need to come to each other's neighborhood events to help promote and support our neighborhoods since we're all working to make Lynn a better community.

If you start up Ward 3 then please let me know if I can help.

I hope to see you and your wife on October 6th for the planting and cleaning.
