Free MCAS Test Prep Classes Begin August 12th

North Shore Community College is offering a free MCAS test prep program, Pathways to Success, for current and former high school students who want to attend college, but must first pass the MCAS test. The program is held at NSCC's Lynn Campus, 300 Broad St. and is open to 2003-2015 high school class members. 



English and math classes will be held for three weeks, August 12 through August 29, from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. English is offered on Mondays & Wednesdays and math is offered on Tuesdays & Thursdays. An ESL Specialist and tutors are available. 



There is no cost to attend and all materials will be provided free of charge.

Free Glass Blowing Demonstrations!

Salem State University's Glassworks Studio hosts four innovative glass artists for the month of July as part of the first Rosenberg Institute for Passionate and Emerging Artists. Through the generous support of Ira and Judy Rosenberg artists Danny White, Dawson Kellogg, Tyler Kimball and Chris Watts will work in the studio daily and be in residence on the Salem State campus. They will offer free public demonstrations on four consecutive Monday evenings: July 8, 15, 22 and 29 at 6 pm. The demonstration on July 29 will begin with an artists reception at 5:30 pm. Ever thought about taking a noncredit course or expanding your lifelong learning? Now's the time as you can learn more at absolutely no cost at North Shore Community College's FREE Friday workshops on August 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd. 



Offered by NSCC's Division of Corporate and Community Education, the two-hour workshops will provide an overview of upcoming fall offerings on subjects such as: 

*Fundraising and Development in Nonprofits 

*Chinese 

*Time Management 

*Hypnosis 

*Designing Interiors with Feng Shui 

*Painting for Beginners

The workshops will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. or 1-3 p.m. in state-of-the-art classrooms at NSCC's Beverly location, 100 Cummings Center, Suite 121E, 181 Elliot St., Beverly.

15th annual Harmony Among Lynn Teens Conference

The goal of the event is to bring youth together to discuss teen issues and show that having a good time doesn’t include drugs and alcohol. The theme of this year’s conference is being “Above the Influence”, not just including substance abuse, but also peer pressure, violence, bullying, and other negative influences. Around 200-300 teens come together to learn about resources in their communities and attend workshops followed by guest speakers, raffle prizes, and more!

Volunteer Opportunity - Help Girls Inc. of Lynn Sing!

A group of 8th graders at Girls Inc. of Lynn have become very interested in music and especially in singing. They are interested in learning more techniques and ways to practice. And, of course, they want to have fun with singing! Girls Inc. of Lynn is looking for a skilled volunteer that might be able to help them with this.

The group of 7 to 10 girls meeting once a week on Wednesdays from 4-5 pm.  This would be for the Spring Term starting April 10 and ending June 19. Girls Inc. of Lynn is seeking a volunteer who would feel comfortable leading a small group, is able to commit to most dates and simply loves music.
